Basically, UHI has asked UHISA to produce a short disclaimer to outline the expectations of its club and society members. Unfortunately, there have been incidents in the past, where the actions of a club/society member has reflected badly on both UHISA and UHI. For this reason, we ask all members of the club/society to sign a copy of the disclaimer upon their registration of membership.
UHISA has public liability insurance to cover accidents and injuries should an incident occurs to one or more of its members. As a club/society, you are therefore covered by our insurance and only in exceptional circumstances, would you not be covered. However, if you are planning on jumping off cliffs or fire-dancing, you might want to get your members to sign something to limit your liability! I am happy to help with this should you need advice.
